Sensitive skin and How to Care

What is sensitive skin?

Sensitive skin is skin that is out of balance. This can be noticed for example redness, rash or tightness. These symptoms may occur on both the face and the entire body.
Each skin is sensitive to a certain extent, because actually it means that she is able to perceive sensory stimuli. But perception also means selecting. One of the most important functions of the skin is, after all, the barrier function: to protect the body against external influences, such as harmful components, dirt, radiation and micro-organisms. The skin has to 'decide' which substances or stimuli are allowed and which are not. A too sensitive skin is no longer able to make this selection. The defense mechanism is disturbed so that the skin has a lower resistance to irritants. As a result, the upper layer of the skin is very porous, which can easily penetrate external stimuli. As compensation, the skin will protect itself by becoming harder, with an irritated and often rough skin as a result.
